Construction of GM's Delta Township Assembly Plant, slated originally for 2003, has been pushed back one more year.

The construction will now begin in early 2004, with production scheduled to start in 2006. Employees at the Lansing Car Assembly Plant were also informed they will lose all three of it's products.

The Grand Am, Alero, and Malibu will be lost during the summer of 2004. Hollister says he has a handshake agreement with the vice president of General Motors', not to keep workers idle for the 18-month gap.

A GM spokesperson says staffing for the Delta Plant will take place in late 2004. During this time, workers will start training and learning how materials are organized.
