The $13 million project is called "Kalamazoo Gateway." It will be built on 1.3 acres at the corner of Kalamazoo Street and South Cedar Street.

Developer Gene Townsend, the man who developed the Printer's Row Condos on South Grand Ave., says there will be 10 condos for sale and some 30 apartments for rent as well as commercial space. "I think a specialty food market, place that sells prepared foods, maybe a sit down coffee shop," he says.

The Lansing Board of Water and Light will construct a new entrance for the city's River Trail which sits directly across the street from the planned development.

Construction is expected to being the summer of 2008 and finish the following summer.

More then 80 city parking spots will be lost temporarily once construction begins. A neighboring cab company will be demolished and the parking spots will be rebuilt there. The cab company will relocate.

Construction is expected to being the summer of 2008 and finish the following summer.
