MSU police say it was nearly 3:30 a.m. when a 19-year-old student delivering food was going toward an apartment in Spartan Village when she saw someone in a stairwell.

She says she turned around, and he came up in dark clothes and a mask like the one from "Scream."

"He had a knife--she saw the blade of it," Sgt. Florene McGlothian explains, and he covered her mouth and demanded money.

"She did the right thing. She gave it to him," McGlothian-Taylor says. He ran with $24 and a cell phone. The victim says another man joined him as he ran away.

Neighbors tell us they've always felt safe here.

"Usually, yes, until I heard that,: Kye Cureton, a junior told us.

It is the third attack on women under investigation near MSU in a week. Two were groped by unidentified males on campus last Sunday and Tuesday nights.

"We don't believe they are related incidences," McGlothian-Taylor said, but "it is currently being investigated."
