State Senators Debate Fire Funds

State senators will be back at work and saving state funds for community fire departments will be at the top of their to-do list.

Lansing and East Lansing are among the 52 Michigan cities that are given money each year to provide protection for state buildings.

Lansing gets $600,000. East Lansing receives $921,000.

Gov. Engler vetoed the spending, totaling $7.5 million, last July and senators will debate restoring those funds.
