Michigan is on pace to set a record for bank robberies this year.
The FBI says several serial bandits are responsible and so are first-timers facing unpaid bills and casino losses.
There have been 306 bank robberies in the state so far this year. That's up 15-percent from the 2003 total of 265, and more than one a day.
The Michigan record is 356 robberies, set in 1996. That compares with 97 for all of 1984.
The FBI says the average thief gets away with less than $2,000, and about 70-percent of bank robberies are solved.
