Lansing City workers drove more than 1,300 miles to bring back a piece of twisted metal from the World Trade Center, and on September 11, 2002 their work was showcased as Lansing’s 9-11 Memorial.
The memorial is a 10 foot twisted support beam mounted on a slab of concrete. On the base are plaques honoring the sates where the Sept. 11 tragedies took place: New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
"The ceremony is a way to honor those who lost their lives and help the local community heal itself," Lansing Mayor, David Hollister said.
