More than 100 people showed up for the vigil of Hillsdale's Eugene Armstrong.
Armstrong was beheaded by terrorists who demanded the release of Iraqi women from two prisons.
Armstrong and two others were kidnapped by a group the US believes is linked to al Qaeda.
The condition of the two other men is not known at this time.
