The Education Center in Lansing makes changes for the short term and long term. School officials say these changes are being made to ensure the safety of the students.

The center will no longer have open campus lunch for students in the adult and continuing education program. An additional security officer will also be on hand at the school.

Lansing Police patrol cars will be near school grounds during the next few days. They want to show their seriousness for the safety of students.

School officials say they continue to work with police and neighbors of the center on trying to solve the problem of students loitering.

Just a few days ago, gunshots were fired near the center when police say two groups a teen girls were involved in some sort of altercation. Lansing Police are still investigating.
