A 7-year-old Weimaraner named Jake who was stolen from his backyard in Michigan as a puppy has shown up 350 miles away at an animal shelter in central Kentucky.
Sandie Clark, director of the Estill County Animal Shelter, says Jake's owners are set to arrive Wednesday afternoon to pick him up.
Clark told WKYT-TV in Lexington the dog was dropped off overnight Monday when the shelter was closed. She says the shelter checked for a microchip and tracked the owners through the information found on it.
Owner Brad Davis of Lake Orion, Mich., says the dog was stolen from the family's backyard in 2003 when it was just a pup. Davis says his daughter was just 2 at the time, and when he told her the good news she said, "I always knew he was coming back."
