A Michigan State Police trooper assigned to the Mount Pleasant Post remains suspended without pay in connection with assault charges involving another officer during a training session.
The Morning Sun in Mount Pleasant reports Friday that Jeff Dilts faces a Sept. 16 preliminary examination in an Isabella County court.
Dilts was arraigned Wednesday on misconduct in office and assault and battery.
The state Attorney General's office says the assault occurred in April. State police internal affairs officers investigated the case.
Dilts was suspended without pay on April 21. He is free on bond.
The Associated Press left telephone and e-mail messages Friday afternoon seeking comment from Dilts' attorney.
