AAA Michigan says Monday that gas prices statewide are down nearly five cents from last week -- and off more than 30 cents from the same week last year.
The statewide average for self-serve unleaded is about a $1.40, down 4.8 cents from last week and down 30.3 cents from last year.
In the Detroit area, the per-gallon average is about a $1.40 -- down 3.8 cents from last week and down 27.5 cents from last year.
The statewide range of prices is a $1.28 to a $1.59. In the Detroit area, prices range from a $1.30 to a $1.58.
AAA Michigan conducts a weekly survey of 300 gas stations.
