GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) -- Organizers say attendance for the just-concluded second annual festival of laughter in Grand Rapids was 56,294.
Gilda's LaughFest came to a close Sunday after 10 days. It began March 8 when 607 individuals set a new world record for most people wearing chicken beaks at a single venue.
The festival's attendance figure was announced Tuesday. It eclipsed last year's total of 55,376.
LaughFest was sponsored by the nonprofit Gilda's Club Grand Rapids and honored the memory of comedian Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. It featured comedy, stage shows and films.
Gilda's Club is a cancer and grief-support group.
