DETROIT -- Kid Rock's weekend concerts at Detroit's Comerica Park will have a carnival-like atmosphere.
The rocker's website reports Tuesday he will host a block party in a nearby parking lot before his performances Friday and Saturday.
Midway games, a Ferris wheel, karaoke and a mechanical bull are expected to be part of the festivities. Proceeds will go to the Kid Rock Foundation.
The block parties begin at 2 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday. They are free to the public.
Sammy Hagar and the Wabos will open the concerts.
Kid Rock was born Robert Ritchie. He grew up in and lives in suburban Detroit, and is known for dabbling in various musical styles, from hip-hop and hard rock to country and Southern rock.
