Cannes Film Festival begins in the south of France Wednesday with a showing of "The Great Gatsby." The festival lasts 12 days.

CANNES, France - The red carpet was rolled out Wednesday at the 66th Cannes Film Festival. Fans gather in the French city in the hope of catching a glimpse of Hollywood stars Leonardo DiCaprio, among others. The 12-day festival kicked off with the screening of "The Great Gatsby" starring DiCaprio. Hundreds of films will be shown during the festival, and 20 will compete for the coveted Palme D'or, the festival's highest honor. Directors Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee are part of the nine-person jury that will chose the high honor. Nicole Kidman and Christoph Waltz are also on the jury.
