The competition is underway. It's not fierce, like the business world Chris Holman is used to, or brutal, like the football field Tico Duckett once played on, or fast-paced like the news ratings Jason Colthorp fights for.
No, this competition is good-natured and all to benefit women's health in Mid-Michigan.
"Dapper Dads" is a celebrity fashion show organized by Women Working Wonders, a committee of the Sparrow Foundation.
Along with Holman, Duckett and Colthorp, other fathers walking the runway Thursday, June 10 at Kositchek's on Washington Avenue in downtown Lansing include; former Lansing Police Chief Mark Alley, Kellie Dean of Dean Transportation, Banana Don Jefferson of WITL 100.7, Glenn Granger of Granger Construction and former MSU hockey player Kelly Miller.
The men are trying to get people to vote for them by sending people to a website (http://www.sparrow.org/foundation/dapperdadsvote.asp) where every vote cast costs $5 dollars.
The event will feature a wine and cheese reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. The fashion show will start at 6:15 p.m. and be emceed by MSU Women’s Basketball coach Suzy Merchant. Tickets for the event may be purchased online for $15, or by calling 517.364.5680. In addition, Kositchek’s is donating a portion of all sales for the evening to the cause.
WILX's Jason Colthorp is in third-to-last place with less than 24 hours left to vote. You can also vote for WILX General Manager Mike King and help women be healthier in your community.
