Betty White Campaign Picking Up Steam

More than 188,000 people on Facebook are urging "Saturday Night Live" to make Betty White a host.

The campaign has been gaining followers and attention, just as the 88-year-old actress has become more ubiquitous. She was given a lifetime achievement award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and starred in a Super Bowl commercial for Snickers that has ranked as one of the game's most popular.

The Facebook page, which isn't affiliated with White, says she would be a "fantastic" host and that it would be a terrific way to honor her.

Representatives for White said she had no comment. NBC is also not commenting.

She is a class act and host SNL is often reserved for lip-syncers and actors trying to get more coverage.

I think Betty White would be great to host NBC's Saturday Night Live. She has after all, been on all the talk shows ,including a stint as a regular on Jack Paar's Tonight Show between 1958-62, played Sue Ann on Mary Tyler Moore, Ellen Jackson on Mama's Family, Rose on The Golden Girls, and of course she was a guest on many game shows, including Password, which her late hHusband Allen Ludden MC'd for years and Match Game, which was hosted by Gene Rayburn and she was in the 6th chair on the 1973-82 CBS and syndicated versions of the show where she was joined by Richard Dawson, Brett Somers, and Charles Nelson Reilly, plus others like Dick Martin (he was born in Battle Creek)and Patty Duke. Allen and Gene would be proud of Betty for that Snickers ad, and they'd be happy if she did SNL. Another show I'd like to see her on is SpongeBob Squarepants. She could voice a relative of one of the characters on there like, say, Patrick's grandma.
