The Lansing festival, Common Ground, opened Tuesday, July 9 to crowds in the thousands. But glitches possibly in organization as well as finance could hamper the festival's future.

Lansing authorities say a significant amount of water is missing that was supposed to be for workers and volunteers. Some feel that the water was stolen, but police are in the process of investigating.

But the festival has it’s own financial glitches as well.

Organizers say the festival has yet to turn a profit in its three-year existence, but some claim this year could be when the event breaks even.

While there are many factors influencing the festival dipping into the black, Malinda Barr, media coordinator of Common Ground, says that the weather is critical.

The event runs through Sunday, July 14.
