A 48-year-old Sterling Heights woman is on the cusp of being named the next "Biggest Loser," and her family couldn't be happier.
Helen Phillips is a finalist in tonight's live season finale of "The Biggest Loser: Couples" on NBC. She and Tara Costa of New York compete against a third finalist selected by viewers, either Ron Morelli of South Lyon or his son, Mike.
The winner will take home $250,000.
Russell Phillips says his wife has inspired him and others to take charge of their health.
He is a veteran autoworker and union steward at Chrysler's Sterling Heights assembly plant, which is slated to close by the end of next year.
He says a win by his wife would boost a community buffeted by the woes of the auto industry.
