Aside from cheaper rates, which is always an issue, residents talked about new services including high definition and video on demand.

Tom Robinson with CBG Communications has been hired to hear resident's wants and interests, and then compile a report to hand in to both the city and Comcast.

Another issue is 'a la carte' programming where you can select individual channels rather than pre-programmed packages. Robinson says that's likely to be handled at the federal level.

One option, which received quite a bit of support, was the implementation of a new Community Media Center. It would serve as the public broadcasting entity for the area. Advocates say it would help promote Lansing to better compete in the job market.
