Victory Projected for Rick Snyder

Exit polling by Detroit television station WXYZ projects a Republican sweep at the top of the ticket. The polling shows that Rick Snyder and Brian Calley will win Governor and Lt. Governor, Bill Schuette will be the next Attorney General and Ruth Johnson will become Michigan's next Secretary of State.

As the votes are being counted, Rick Snyder is leading Democratic opponent Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in early returns. Snyder has 62 percent to Bernero's 35 percent with 5 percent of the precincts reporting.

Three third-party candidates also are running.

Tuesday marks the first gubernatorial race since 2002 with no incumbent and the first since the Michigan economy was rocked by the near-collapse of two automakers. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
