Snyder Puts Transition Online

Gov.-elect Rick Snyder has unveiled his new transition website aimed at helping Michigan residents share their ideas and learn more about his plans for the state once he takes office Jan. 1.
Snyder announced the website Thursday. A link can be found at the end of this story.
Residents interested in becoming a part of the Snyder administration can submit resumes through the website, which resembles the Ann Arbor venture capitalist's campaign website.
Snyder beat Democrat Virg Bernero in Tuesday's election. He replaces Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, who can't serve again because of term limits.

Do not slash and burn state workers it will not work especially corrections officer that is not a secretarial job it is law enforcement . If you want to fix corrections fix it with real reform!. Once we had a surplus of money in Michigan at that point it had to be spent and it was, Engler made up jobs in the department of corrections we do not need 2 ARUS per housing unit 1 would do just fine, we don’t need a warden at every facility Jackson was run for years by 1 warden as far as secretaries why do we need so many the same can be said for ADW's look at position and is it needed not just pay cuts to start, Now as far as inmates why is the cost of medication so high look at waste we throw out thousands in good useable meds every day, why because inmate abc's name is on the card it can only go to inmate abc even though it is the same medication as inmate xyz just because it does not have his name on it and inmate abc leaves a facility now it goes in the trash as waste we have highly qualified nursing staff that can read and make sure that the right meds get passed out to the right inmate . the list goes on from here paper for call out's, count, and so on and so on stop the waste not the pay. With pay cut everyone loses including the state. less pay= less taxes, less discretionary spending everywhere business lose the people of Michigan lose.

Brent, my friend who works for the State, just got a %3 pay cut, and they've also been forced to pay more for insurance and with coverage cuts. The State Legislators, on the other hand, get free health care for the REST OF THEIR LIVES once they retire. In other words, as usually is the case, the fat needs to be cut from the top, not the bottom. The State of Michigan is notoriously known for having way too many chefs over too few cooks in the kitchen. Cut out a lot of the useless supervisors (like the one my friend works for who sits on the phone gabbing with her boyfriends all day and doing anything but her work, that's my friend's job), the ones with the bigger salaries and PTO accrued up the ying-yang (another policy that needs to be abolished as no one deserves to get 12 weeks of vacation, no matter how long they've worked somewhere, IMO), and we could save hand over foot. Ignorance is a dangerous thing, people; please inform yourselves before spewing useless rhetoric.

right john state workers do earn their pay, just reminds me of that joke about how many roachs does it take to screw in a light bulb. and the punch line cant tell they scatter when the light comes on. so how many state workers dose it take to patch a pot hole apparenty at least four pepol two trucks and some shovels. how many times have i seen state workers driving down the highway two in one truck and two in the truck behind going about 10 mph on a interstate. and then when they do find a pot hole one gets out and fills it then back in the truck or how many times have i seen state d.o.t. workers three or four just standing around . i will admit that the ones at the dmv do work look at how many holidays they get compared to the privit sector and the bennys and as for being angry uninformed and clueless pepol yes in my job i have to.

I sure hope the new governor hits the ground running. There has been way to much robbing Peter to pay Paul voo doo budgeting. It is time to face the music and immediately reduce spending. Eliminate about half of state departments, employees, benefits and reduce the wages and benefits of those left by at least 50%. Do this right away, and reduce the tax load on the people. I am sure he isn't shy and can see through the smoke screens all of the politicians will start blowing to maintain their pet projects and special interests desires. But to get this state back on an even keel, these things must be done right away! After that is accomplished, eliminate taxes that are used just to generate un-needed redundant rules and regulations that make it difficult, if not impossible for anyone to even consider opening or moving a business here. I hope he does these things like he indicated, and stands his ground to make it happen! Thank you. Ricardo

Brent..in your job do you have to put up with angry, uninformend, and generaly clueless people everyday? State workers earn their pay just like everyone else. Nobody is getting a free ride.

State workers get paid "holidays" off like voting day, presidents day, and MLK day.The rest of us taxpayers work to earn our pay and pay our taxes which make it possible for state workers to stay home. It's not right! Michigan needs to cut the fat and make everyone accountable. The days of free rides are over. Rick has the business sense that can make our government become accountable.
