Republican U.S. Senate candidate Clark Durant has turned in more than 24,000 signatures to get on the Aug. 7 primary ballot.

In a nod to actor James Dean, Durant said Monday he was bringing the petitions from Detroit to Lansing by motorcycle to show he'd be "a rebel with a cause" in Washington if he gets elected.

A spokesman for Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow says she plans to turn in her signatures later Monday.

Tea party favorite and American Family Association of Michigan President Gary Glenn and former Kent County Judge Randall Hekman say they'll turn in signatures Tuesday to get on the GOP U.S. Senate ballot.

Former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra turned in more than 22,000 signatures last month and plans to submit more by Tuesday's deadline.
