MOUNT PLEASANT -- Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has swung into Michigan looking for some campaign momentum.
The Texas congressman trails Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in polls ahead of Michigan presidential primary on Tuesday. Paul spoke to more than 1,000 energetic supporters on Saturday at Central Michigan University and many more couldn't get into the packed auditorium.
Paul has other Michigan stops planned for Sunday and Monday.
Some of Paul's views on limited government and low taxes fit in with the Republican mainstream, but he breaks with much of his party when he criticizes American intervention abroad and puts a premium on individual rights as the nation works to root out domestic terror.
He echoed many of his major themes during Saturday's campaign appearance.
