Republican Mitt Romney says a video clip in which he called nearly half of Americans "victims" was "not elegantly stated" and was "spoken off the cuff." But he says President Barack Obama's approach is "attractive to people who are not paying taxes."
Romney spoke to reporters Monday evening in a hastily called news conference after the emergence of a video in which the GOP presidential nominee told donors that almost half of American voters "believe that they are victims."
The Republican nominee did not disavow the comments but said they were made during a question-and-answer session. He said it was indicative of his campaign's effort to "focus on the people in the middle."
The website of the magazine Mother Jones posted a video of Romney's comments from a private fundraiser.

NoName, How do you know this and what difference does it make? Those of you backing BHO need to know, he can not steal/tax enough money from the rich to keep all of you happy. Not only that, he won't steal/tax enough from the rich, as he wants part of the rich class that keep him in power. He plays people like you against them to vote him in. Again, he can not steal enough to keep all happy, you will always be chasing the carrot!?!?!?

The problem with Romney/Ryan is that both candidates DO NOT know what it is like not to have money; to struggle just to pay the bills.

@Anonymous, Wow, guess I hit your nerve with one particular sentence. Maybe you should start with the lesson of "tolerance" for other's opinions instead of a heated angry comment.

@Courtney: I've never read anywhere in the Bible about Jesus carrying a gun nor any other weapon for that matter. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, turned water into wine and taught about forgiveness and tolerance. He didn't spend his life finding creative ways to avoid paying taxes. He didn't amass a fortune in His lifetime. He didn't buy up companies and suck out all the cash leaving them bankrupt. He didn't line His own pockets by firing people leaving them high and dry without jobs or health insurance coverage, nor did He flip flop on the issues depending on which way He thought would get Him the most votes the next time the polls were open.

@Angie, the disparity would stop if we went to a straight flat tax. Everyone would then pay the same exact tax dependent upon what they spend. It is a simply strategy. As far as kool-aid, I can't stand the stuff, I prefer my bible and my gun.

Now Romney is saying he is for everyone! Well how much more of his feet does he want to swallow? This man has insulted, Latinos, Muslims, Jews, and everyone who doesn't make at least 250K a year. Well it is a lot more than 47% of us. Anyone who thinks wee should be deported, or die if we don't vote for Romney is on par with the nutso in Co. We ALL have a right to state our minds, and last I knew this was still a free country. If you don't like what is said, leave, but do not threaten anyone of us.
