Rick Snyder Gives Victory Speech

Republican Rick Snyder says his election as Michigan's governor signals the start of an era of innovation for a state he says is broken.

Snyder says the state's economy and government have been broken "for too many years." He called for inclusiveness rather than divisiveness.

The former executive at computer maker Gateway Inc. delivered his victory speech Tuesday night at a Detroit hotel after his strong win over Democratic Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero.

He thanked Bernero, who called Snyder to offer his full support earlier in the evening.

Three third-party candidates also ran.

Tuesday marked the first gubernatorial race since 2002 with no incumbent and the first since the Michigan economy was rocked by the near-collapse of two automakers.

The only thing wrong with this state and a few others is lack of jobs.Jobs help in taxing as long as it is not too much. Then if properly handled by gov things work out for themselves. But now what kind of government are we too look forward to?All dems were judged by jenny and that is so wrong.I see a lot of hardships for many unless they are in the upper class.Once elected,no one seems to be able to get them out of office no matter how bad of job they do.

It is time to see michigan improve. 8 years of bad policies and trips abroad and we are still no better than the worst state in the union. One thing will be for sure, tehre will be no missed budgets or shutdowns during Snyders terms.

I am going to remain optimistic! I hope for all our sakes that this guy doesn't emulate Engler and can really perform the miracles he says he can!

This is like a breath of fresh air! I sure hope Rick has the gumption to drasticly down size all of the state's departments and their bloated costs. Something has to give, and I am sure the electorite will be watching very close for immediate and effective results. Drastic times call for drastic measures. Thank you. Ricardo
