Two crimes two days apart have caught the attention of the Lansing Police Department and now they're looking for public help catching two men they say are responsible for two sexual assaults last week.

Last Wednesday, a 51-year-old woman told police a man attacked her as she was walking to her car in the North Grand Ramp, threw her to the ground and as he was running his hands through her pockets, sexually assaulted her.

Two days later, police say a woman in her 60's was raped in her Southwest Lansing home after a male suspect broke in through a window and stole belongings. The man also took the woman's car, a red 1996 Buick Skylark with license plate BTC-2186.

Police say the man responsible for Friday's rape is connected with at least two other rapes since May, all within one mile of each other.

Lansing police are stepping up patrols in Southwest Lansing and Downtown Lansing as a result. Police Captain Ray Hall says the Lansing Police Department will also pay out overtime until the end of the week to increase police presence in the city.

Captain Hall says police plan to go door-to-door on Tuesday distributing sketches of the suspect in the parking ramp attack. The sketch will be handed out to businesses and offices buildings in vicinity of the downtown ramp in hopes of finding leads to the suspect.

He is believed to be approximately 28-years-old, a black male with short black hair. Police say he was last seen running north on Grand near Shiawassee Street. The sketch is based on descriptions given by witnesses.

The only details police have released about Friday's attacker is that he wore a white mask in the attack and has a deep voice.

The bartender at Auggies on Miller Road told me that the man in the sketch last night was in Auggies around lunchtime yesterday. He even carded the guy and said that he was exactly 28 years old.
