The Lansing Board of Water and Light is warning its customers to beware of scammer. Two customers have said they received calls saying their electric service would be cut off if they didn't proved credit card information of maker wire payments thought Western Union or Money Gram.
BWL says the scam calls show up on caller I.D. from “313-427-0362” – a metro-Detroit area code. This same number has appeared in scam alerts issued by the Marquette Board of Light and Power in the Upper Peninsula.
BWL wants to remind it customers that it never asks for credit care information over the phone or to make wire payments.
If your receive a suspicious call you are asked to report it to BWL customer service at 517-702-6006 or local police.
