Investigators say they discovered 54-year-old Roger Young dead early Monday in a house in the 3100 block of Stoneleigh Drive in Lansing. He had taken his own life.

The former Scoutmaster was charged last October with nine counts including Criminal Sexual Conduct. He was suspected of sexually assaulting a young boy under the age of 13, the brother of a teenager in Young's Okemos Boy Scouts troop.

Young had been free on bond.

Young had been a Boy Scout leader in the Chief Okemos Council for nearly 20 years. He didn't any criminal history or charges until his October arrest.

There isnt enough money in the world to intice me to work with Kids. With all the false , trumped up charges brought forth by kids, whether it be for spite, to get even with someone, or because of a neurotic parent... There have been many lives ruined due to FALSE charges by kids..who come to find out that it was only done because they didnt happen to like being held after school for fighting or cheating on a test.

I don't think he should have been let go on bond either. If he took his own life just think what would have happened if he would have returned to his place of employment and took lives there. Justice system failed once again.

While I am as discusted as the next person over the acts this man was accused of, I have to remind myself that God loved him as much as He does anyone else. Nothing more can be done to or for him, lets keep his victims and their families in prayer that they may get past what was done to them.

Ahh Me, first he was innocent until proven guilty. Second, how did the justice system fail? Why would the victims want to see him again..they have closure they would not have had otherwise; if he was indeed guilty of what he was accused of.

I agree. This man should have been held without bond. The boy/boys will live with what this jerk did for the rest of their lives. This coward gets off easy.

How did WILX come to the conclusion that he committed suicide if the police was not sure how or when he died?

I agree, Me. But, at least there is one less child molester in the world. Cause for celebration, if you ask me.
