Police say a June 23 fire in which a 26-year-old Lansing woman and her two children died is being investigated as a homicide.
Nadia Torres, her 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter died of smoke inhalation in the blaze at their home. Torres' husband Fernando was at work at the time.
Police originally said the fire was suspicious. But Lt. Noel Garcia says investigators now are awaiting "crucial" results of tests being conducted at the state police crime lab.
The Lansing State Journal says police do not believe the fire is connected to an Aug. 8 blaze in which a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were found dead in a house three miles away. That case also is being investigated as a homicide.
