LEONI TWP - State police say they have caught a driver transporting 13 pounds of marijuana along I-94 in Jackson County. The arrest was made Tuesday afternoon along the highway near Race Road in Leoni Township. A trooper pulled the car over for a registration violation. While investigating, the trooper observed suspected criminal activity and decided to search the vehicle. That's when the trooper found two large bundles of marijuana packed inside dog food bags. Those bags were hidden inside exterior toolboxes on the vehicle.
The 46-year-old Alabama man has prior narcotics trafficking offenses. He's being held in Jackson County Jail until he is arraigned.
