Nearly $4000 worth of electronics and personal items were stolen from a car on Ganson Street in Jackson recently.
You could've been one of the first to find out about that crime thanks to a service adopted by the police department last month.
It's called Nixle-- and it provides notifications about community events, traffic tie-ups and public safety via the web, e-mail and text message.
The service is 24/7 and is completely free, unless you have to pay for text message through you cell phone provider.
You can also add multiple locations, like your house in Jackson and your mother's house in Alaska.
Just click on the link below to sign up for the free service.
