A Holly teen has been charged, a week after police say he accidentally shot and killed his cousin while posing for a cell phone picture.
Eighteen-year-old Alexander Wagner was arraigned Monday on a two-year misdemeanor charge of careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death. He was freed on a $50,000 personal bond.
Police say 16-year-old Joseph Chartier of Mio was taking a cell phone picture of Wagner pointing a 9mm pistol at him when the gun fired. Police said Chartier died instantly of a single shot to the face.
State police Detective Sgt. Gary Muir told The Flint Journal the pair were friends and Wagner tried to give the victim first aid.
A preliminary examination is set for Aug. 28.
Police didn't immediately know if Wagner had a lawyer.
