JACKSON - More than two years after two children were shot outside a home in Jackson, the man police say is responsible is behind bars.

Trent Allen Gardner, a 40-year old Jackson man, was arrested Friday evening, according to a statement released by the City of Jackson Police Department Monday afternoon. Gardner is suspected of shooting a 10-year old boy and a 15-year old girl outside a residence in the 1000 block of S. Jackson Street on April 3, 2007. The boy had been shot in his stomach and the girl was wounded in her head.

No information has been released about how police were able to identify and arrest Gardner, more than two years after the shooting.
Gardner is charged with two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, possession of a short barreled shotgun, and firearm possession by a felon.

He should be sent off and can't get out for 25 years for attempted murder, don't you think shooting someone in the head and stomach is a attempt to murder them ?
