Police Continue Investigation As If Girl Is Alive

Police say they have no reason to believe a 5-year-old Monroe girl missing since the weekend has died.

Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said Thursday: "We have no indication that she is not still alive."

He says investigators are conducting additional interviews at a Monroe apartment complex. It was in the complex's parking lot that Nevaeh Buchanan last was seen Sunday evening.

All 180 units in the apartment already had been searched, but police are back canvassing it on Thursday.

Nevaeh is white, under 4 feet tall, weighs 45 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.
