Two brothers accused of burning a 6-year-old boy's buttocks with a blowtorch have been charged with first-degree child abuse.
Thirty-six-year-old Gerald Hall and 43-year-old Glen Hall were charged Wednesday. Each was being held Thursday evening in the Clare County Jail on $150,000 bond pending a May 5 preliminary hearing.
Michigan State Police investigators say the boy, who is Gerald Hall's son, was burned at least once. Sgt. Del Putnam tells the Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant the boy has recovered physically and is in protective custody.
First-degree child abuse is a 15-year felony, but Glen Hall could be sentenced to 1 1/2 times the maximum penalty as a habitual offender. He is on parole after serving prison time in a 2003 drunken driving case in Isabella County.

I think that in cases like this, there should be some sort of law that whatever the suspect did to the child, should be done back to them to let them see how it feels and then that should be enough punishment and if not we cant take it further

I agree with all of the comments, if we would do the eye for an eye thing would be justified in my book, bring them out in the street and let us watch, it would stop some of these freaks.

I am horrified by this story. The boy may have recovered physically but he has emtional scars that will last a lifetime. Hopefully, when they are behind bars they will find out that the other inmates won't think kindly about what they did to this young boy.

Are these guys missing some brain cells? No normal person would do something this dumb to their own son.

What is wrong with people?!!!! Children are a treasure. If you can't handle loving your child and nurturing your child, then grow up yourself! Find someone who can and will, even if that means giving up your rights as an UNFIT parent!!

As a father of five and grandfather to eleven my first reaction would be to do same treatment to both. They should spend the rest of their unworthy lives behind bars and wear a sign on their prison clothing stating child abuser.
