An update tonight on a couple of News Ten Neighborhood Crime Watch cases we covered last year.
Law enforcement, in several counties, think they've solved the theft of tens of thousands of dollars of scrap metal.
This man,, 31 year old Jason Leo Francis of Elgin, Illinois has so far been charged in Ingham and Branch counties.
Ingham County sheriff's deputies says he's suspected of stealing scrap metal, worth more than a thousand dollars from Dart Container in Mason.
Francis also has charges pending in Jackson County for the theft of more than seven thousand dollars worth of scrap carbide from Production Engineering at 23-30 Brooklyn road.
I'm told he's also a suspect in numerous other counties here in Michigan.
According to investigators, Francis makes contact with employees at businesses that handle scrap metal, learns the name of the supervisor,, then returns,, at a later date, and tells other employees that the supervisor has authorized him to take the scrap metal.
So the warning is, if you work somewhere that deals in scrap metal beware of who you let take it.
Also tonight, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the 22-hundred block of Woodlake Drive in Alaeidon Township,, someone smashed out a vehicle's driver's side window and stole a purse.
Also from Alaeidon Township, the three-thousand block of Meridian road,, a thief must have been paying attention to Andy's forecast of a snowy Saturday,, because they stole a snowblower.
