DETROIT (AP) -- The former lover and chief of staff of jailed ex-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is expected to begin a 120-day jail stay for lying about their affair on the witness stand.
Christine Beatty faces sentencing Tuesday morning in Wayne County Circuit Court. She accepted the sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to obstructing justice.
The 38-year-old mother of two tells The Detroit News "there is no good way" to prepare for jail and says prayer is her "answer right now."
Beatty and Kilpatrick were charged for their 2007 testimony in a whistle-blowers' civil suit.
The Detroit Free Press published sexually explicit text messages between Kilpatrick and Beatty.
Kilpatrick began a 120-day sentence Oct. 28.
