A Michigan State University football player is among 10 men charged in the theft of 104 Detroit Public Schools lap top computers valued at $158,000.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced the charges Tuesday against 19-year-old Dion Sims and the other defendants. The Spartans list Sims as a sophomore tight end.

The computers were stolen in December 2009 to January 2010 from five schools. Some have been tracked to Arizona, California, Florida, Minnesota, Ohio, Tennessee and Wisconsin, as well as Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

Sims is charged with receiving and concealing stolen property. A message seeking comment was left with Michigan State.

Authorities say three suspects are members of the "Helly Helly Bois" gang.

I thought that no more criminals would be playing sports, so I guess not only does crime pay, but it pays for your education also.

Another young man who does not realize the gift that they are receiving in playing for MSU. $100,000 worth of education and possible more and all they have to do is stay out of trouble for 3 and 1/2 years. I though the Big Ten had academic and moral standards.

Don't these spoiled brats realize what embarassment they bring upon themselves as well as all of us loyal Spartans? If he is found guilty, I hope they kick him out of MSU.

Really! Can't State find other players that are appreciative of what they have. You don't hear about U of M players doing bs like this. He was probably given a free education and look how he repays MSU, by stealing from schools.
