Detroit police say they're willing to pay $50 for a working gun as part of a firearms buyback event.
The Detroit News reports Detroit PD officials are to set up shop Thursday at Second Ebenezer Church.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., people can bring in both broken and functioning guns for cash.
Police say they'll pay $25 for a gun that doesn't work to $50 for one that does.
The newspaper says cash is to be handed out on the spot.
Interim Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. says it's important "to get guns out of circulation."
