A company that makes sealants and adhesives for the automotive and construction industries is closing a southern Indiana factory as it plans to shift production to a Michigan plant.

ADCO Products has told the nearly 100 workers at its Evansville factory that it will close by the end of the year. Company President Glenn Frommer says the plant is a century old and was inflexible for an expansion.

The company, instead, picked an ADCO factory near Jackson, Mich., for the expansion that could add more than 200 jobs.

Southwest Indiana Economic Development Coalition chairman Greg Wathen says he had preliminary talks with company officials about a year ago, but they didn't mention that the Evansville plant could be closed.
