Winter Weather Advisory Tonight

Posted: $util.date("h:mm a MMM d, yyyy",$story.contentLiveDate,$timeZone)
Reporter: Darrin Rockcole

A weak area of low pressure will bring light snow into the area by late this afternoon. As warmer air aloft moves our way we transition to sleet or freezing drizzle overnight before changing to rain early Monday morning. Temperatures this evening should be in the upper 20s and in the mid 30s by sunrise Monday. The ground is cold, so even when temperatures are above freezing untreated roadways could still be icy Monday morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lansing, Jackson and Battle Creek areas from 3 P.M. Sunday to 5 A.M. Monday. A Freezing Rain Advisory has been issued for tonight for Branch and Hillsdale Counties.
Expect periods of light rain Monday and temperatures climb to the mid 40s during the afternoon. Rain is expected on and off through Tuesday and even a thunderstorm could rumble through the area Tuesday with high temperatures in the 50s. Expect some fog with the melting snow as well. Colder air and snow showers return on Wednesday.
Laura Hartman will have the updated forecast through the day on News 10 at 7 A.M., 6 P.M. and 11 P.M.
