Reporter: AP

A winter storm continues moving across Texas on Friday, bringing snow, freezing rain, and rain to most of central Texas. As this system starts to advance northeastward, expect wintry precipitation to move into Oklahoma and Kansas. Snowfall on Friday will range from 2 to 4 inches from north-central Texas to southeastern Kansas. Widespread icing will create dangerous roads and travel conditions throughout these areas. Just to the east, a cold front pushes southeastward and offshore of the Southeast. This will allow for some rain showers to persist in parts of Florida, but most areas from the Gulf shore through the Carolinas will dry out as this system moves away. Rainfall totals from this system will range from a half of an inch to an inch in central and southern Florida.
To the North, a low pressure system moves from the Great Lakes, over the Northeast, and into eastern Canada. This will produce more scattered snow showers along the U.S. and Canadian border, east of the Great Lakes. Snowfall accumulation should remain less than 2 inches across most areas, with up to 5 inches of lake effect snowfall likely along the downwind shores of the eastern Great Lakes.
In the West, a weak trough of low pressure moves onshore over the Pacific Northwest and into the Intermountain West. This will produce rain and high elevation snow showers across Washington, northern Oregon, northern Idaho and western Montana.
