So why are we paying for police to fly around on helicopters and look for plants? The DEA spends hundreds of millions a year doing this same thing. Prohibition does not work. What happened when we tried to make alcohol illegal? People still drank, only instead we provided organized crime with a source of revenue which spawned immense violence over turf wars. The exact same thing that happens with marijuana prohibition. All we're doing in giving violent gangs, drug cartels, and south american terrorist groups a cash crop to grow, while simultaneously denying that crop to our legal taxpaying farmers. In addition to wasting money flying helicopters around we're wasting law enforcement resources and corrections resources on a non-problem to the tune of billions a year nationwide. Add in the tax revenue we're doing without by keeping it on the black market, and oh ya, for all this effort, people still use marijuana, including our last 3 presidents. The only people in favor of marijuana prohibition are cops who want overtime pay, corrections officers who want job security, and drug dealers, anyone else is just ill informed. How about we sock it to the drug dealers, violent gangs, and cartels, and take away their cash crop by making it legal? Oh, and you know what, when you don't have to go to a drug dealer to buy marijuana it stops being a gateway drug because you're not forced to go to someone who probably also sells cocaine etc to buy it. It is the association with criminals that is the gateway, not some chemical magic in the plant.

So why are we not storming the captitol and forcing legislation to stop this wasteful spending?

Right on LeAnn !!So lets do some simple 3rd. grade math...Paying cops wages, vechical use and fuel to go collect said plants all day! Now helicopter, all day, wear and tear, Mechanics man Hours, wages, to maintain said chopper,Now $7.00 a gal. fuel for chopper pilot observer =$50,000. / Now we have the screaming over Inflated police suggested retail price for Mich. homegrown x 40 plants ( OH BOY THATS A BOAT LOAD ,NOT!!) = $40,000??And trying to justify what they are doing and cost effective .What planet did these Idiots fall off of?!! More like $10,000!If that! So now the differance is, these Morons just cost the Mich. Taxpayer-$40,000. Oh Isnt' this just fricken priceless!! Boy ,Talk about government Fraud, waste and abuse!! Oh LeaAnn, We dont need additional police, Because these Idiots are cops and are doing nothing on our streets and still wasting our money hand over fist! If we got rid of a more cops they wouldnt' have time to do this stupid stuff!!! ( They Dont' "Protect" Us And Only "Serve" Themselfs)......As well as their Government Goons and Thugs above them!!

I like how they started the video with one positive affect, then ended it with talking about ending someone's livelihood. 3 cheers for big government!

Let me express my extreme gratitude that our tax dollars are being used so effectively, to rid our fields and forests of one of the most dangerous plants known to man. Nope, no murders in Jackson that need to be attended to, as well as other major issues throughout Jackson County and elsewhere. Please keep this highly effective "war on drugs" going. Seriously, when are they going to stop nanny-ing us all regarding something that is much less harmful than the legal cigarettes and alchol that people kill themselves with every single day? The money that has been wasted for decades over this is disgusting - money that could've been used to improve conditions in certain areas, to provide much needed equipment for our military overseas, to provide additional police, instead of cuts, in some of our harder hit areas, etc., etc., etc. Redonkulous is all it is.

Agreed, $1000 per plant is a rediculous estimation.
