The locker rooms of Spartan Stadium will be completely renovated, a new concession and restroom area will be built over the north field entrance, the media trailers will be converted over to rooms, and all the gates will be reconstructed further away from the stadium to comply with new homeland security requests.

"They're kind of things that needed to be done," said MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon.

Simon says it's tough to tell how much it will cost so early in the planning but, but will probably be between $10-20 million. But according to Deputy Athletic Director Greg Ianni, it won't cost the University or any of the students a cent.

"We're out fund-raising, because this is a project supported by donor dollars," and the most important result Ianni and Simon are aiming for is finally having these parts of the stadium at least as nice as most of the other big ten schools.

"We're gonna have the opportunity to bring the stadium back up to the standard it should be at for the quality of the institution," said Ianni.

Along with the hopes of making the stadium more functional for not just football.

"There are many universities that would've seen that as simply athletic space; they would've kept it for just athletic purposes. It's become a university space."

Adding that the renovations will help them be even more hospitable to visiting teams and fans.
