Michigan is not immune. In the 50's Michigan experienced two F5 tornados. One near the Grand Rapids area and one near Flint. Since then, we have had multiple tornados but on a smaller scale..and then this year Dexter Mi. was hit hard. Not only are we prone to tornados, but we sit smack dab on a major but not very active fault line that could have terrible consequences if a large earthquake struck our area. Also, many areas in Michigan are very prone to serious flooding. Ive always had an emergency plan and extra food and water for my family just in case. I recommend keeping a minimum of at LEAST 30 days of supplies rather than the recommended 3 days. I also recommend having a way to protect your supplies (water, food, and fuel will be worth its weight in gold and desperate people do desperate things) and most of all your family from all of the "it will never happen to me" people. Just look at what happened during hurricane Katrina. We cannot rely on our government to save us during a disaster, and we need to stop thinking it will never happen, and get prepared now. Its ok to be a little paranoid.. it could actually save you and your family's life.

It may take a few moments to organize and plan but it is time well spent. We have been very lucky to nit have had a disaster in the Lansing area but that does not mean we are immune.

The jet stream is not the reason, it's merely a variable. There are 2 books out that clearly show the reason and an undeniable correlation between US natural disasters and the US push to get Israel to give up it's God given land. EVERY time the US has made an effort in the last twenty odd years to get Israel to give up part of it's land...the US has been hard hit with natural disasters. Thus, when Barack Obama spouted off a few weeks ago that Israel needed to return to it's pre 1967 borders, I thought to myself "Oh Lord, what has he done and what natural disaster will strike us?"...Well, now we know...the worst tornado in US history. If we want natural disasters to lessen, then we need to support Israels right to their GOD GIVEN land for it does NOT belong to the Palestinians. God gave the land to the Jews thousands of years ago and history has PROVEN that the land becomes a desert if the Jews are not there. Mark Twain himself noticed that. The jet stream is in the hands of God.
