A state park in Shiawassee County plans to host a two-day snowshoe building class in December and January. Participants will learn to weave a pair of traditional wooden snowshoes, similar to the ones Native Americans made for generations. The cost of making a pair of snowshoes is $170 and includes the pre-formed wooden frames, lacing, bindings and personal instruction. The classes will be held at Sleepy Hollow State Park's headquarters in Laingsburg on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7-8, Jan. 11-12 and Jan. 25-26. Class size is limited to a maximum of eight participants, and reservations are required. A Recreation Passport is required for entry to the park.
