Emilia has strengthened to a Category Three hurricane in the Pacific far off the coast of Mexico but is still not posing a threat to land.

Meanwhile, farther west over the Pacific, Hurricane Daniel had maximum sustained winds near 75 mph. The hurricane is expected to weaken slowly during the next 48 hours and was moving west at 17 mph.
