Campsites in some Michigan state forest campgrounds now can be reserved in advance. The Department of Natural Resources says 244 campsites in 17 state forest campgrounds have been added to the central reservation system formerly limited to state park campsites. Six cabins at Little Presque Isle in Marquette County also can be reserved in advance. The range of camping experiences offered through the reservations system now will include the more secluded, rustic forest campsites along with cabins, lodges and better-equipped campsites offered at state parks. Reservations at the state forest or state park campgrounds can be made by calling (800) 447-2757 toll-free or by making a reservation online at www.midnrreservations.com . Camping fees at most state forest campgrounds range from $13 to $17 per night.
