Organizers of Tulip Time in western Michigan are encouraging people to see the flowers in April -- and also return in May for the festival. Warm weather has tulips emerging earlier than usual all over the state but especially in Holland, the home of Tulip Time. Executive Director Gwen Auwerda says the city mostly plants late bloomers. She hopes the variety lives up to its name. Tulip Time starts May 5th and runs for a week. The Holland Sentinel reports area hotels are offering specials to entice travelers to come to Holland earlier than usual to see the flowers.
