ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Jenny Ryan scored a career-high 24 points to lead Michigan to a 70-69 victory over Michigan State on Saturday -- ending a 12-game losing streak against the Wolverines' in-state rivals. Ryan also had eight rebounds for Michigan (19-6, 8-4 Big Ten), which has won three in a row. Kate Thompson scored 20 points and Nya Jordan had 12 points, including a layup with 41 seconds left that put the Wolverines ahead by three points. Jasmine Thomas led the Spartans (19-6, 7-5) with 21 points. Klarissa Bell added 15 points and seven rebounds for Michigan State. The Wolverines led by as many as nine points in the first half, but a 14-4 run at the end of the first half helped the Spartans take a 32-28 lead at halftime. Michigan's last win against Michigan State was on Jan. 13, 2008.
